Like any big event, a wedding represents a major collaboration between different creatives and vendors. At the centre of it all is you, of course, the wonderful couple; but pulling it all together around you are your family, your friends and us, the people you’ve trusted to make your special day truly unforgettable. As a wedding photographer, I bring my own set of skills to the table, but ultimately my work can only be as good as the people around me: the venue, the catering, the florists, the make-up artists, the bridal designers – the list goes on.
I’d like to highlight some of these awesome wedding vendors in Perth in this little piece, as well as hopefully providing you with a little inspiration for your big day. These are some of the wonderful people I’ve collaborated with in the past, and hope to continue working with far into the future!
Best Florists in Perth
Florists are an integral part of a wedding, and an integral part of my job! The right flowers can transform a wedding from something lovely into something truly beautiful. The colour combinations, the choice of size, placement, arrangement, plant; all of this is an art form. To get the most out of your wedding flowers, you need to work with true artists.
Wildwood Floral, Bits & Blooms, Rose & Bud, Katie Cooper Floral Design, Maple and Wren, Honeybunch Botanicals, Natural Art Flowers by Rebecca Grace are seven of the top wedding florists in Perth. They create the most beautiful soft tonal colour palettes and magic up incredible boutique bouquets.
If you’re looking for the queens of dried flowers or those who specialise in crazy textures and loud, vibrant colours, then look no further than these six amazingly-talented petal artists: The Flowergirl Perth, The Bohemian Flower Collective, Freak Florals (Freak Haus), Signature Floral Design, Sir Botanical, Fox & Rabbit.
Best Invitation / Calligraphy in Perth
Invitations are the first impression you get to give your precious guests, so it pays to make sure it’s a good one! Emailed invitations are of course fine, but if you’re after that personal touch, handcrafted invitations are definitely the way to go.
There are some extremely talented artists and calligraphers at your disposal in and around Perth, including some of my personal favourites Lala Design, White Ink Design Co, Felicitations and Paperfusion.
Best Wedding Make-Up Artists in Perth
Make-up, make-up, make-up. The majority of brides are going to be obsessed with the look they have for their wedding and rightly so. It also impacts on my job, as bad make-up can ruin a photograph (or at least lead to some intricate editing on the back end!). Fortunately, I’ve been lucky in my career to work with some of the best in the business.
Elicia Rose, The Pretty Parlour, Gloss.Plus and Makeup By Melanie create stunning looks which last the whole day, from the initial walk up the aisle to the final conga line around the dancefloor. Cat Elizabeth Artistry, Jacqui Bradfield, Rebekah Clarke, Holly Garvey and Brittany Mason Makeup are also at the top of their game; whenever I see their names on the vendor list I know I’m in good hands and I breathe a little easier!
Best Bridal Wear in Perth
Getting the dress right is crucial. As much as brides might obsess over their make-up, it’s all for nothing if the dress isn’t up to scratch. Through the White Door showcase some of the best modern and bohemian gowns from across the globe and stock a few of my personal favorite brands. Lola Verma delivers chic, sophisticated elegance, while Harriette Gordon, a local Perth gal, designs and creates stunning one-of-a-kind pieces.
If you’re after high-end couture gowns, then check out Galia Lahav via Dion For Brides, while if you want a Made with Love gown, you should head to their exclusive stockists, Brides by Design. They also happen to specialise in the most on-point alterations I’ve ever seen. Perth-based designer Madeline Ruth creates spectacular unique dresses for the more daring bride, while the Queen of Sparkle Karen Willis Holmes combines timeless elegance with modern trends. Last but not least, Samantha Wynne’s gowns are classically beautiful with some amazing attention to detail, while Grace Love Lace serves up simple, fun dresses with an effortless boho flair.
Best Wedding Tailor / Suits in Perth
For the boys, the suits are obviously less of a spectacle but can still make all the difference on the day (and in the photos!). Fortunately there are some top tailors here in Perth, including Poltix, Jack London, M.J Bale, Terrace Men and the wonderfully-named Institchu. Any of these will have you and your groomsmen looking razor-sharp for the big day.
Best Wedding Bands in Perth
The band might not be the first thing on anyone’s list, but trust me, you’re going to regret it if you leave this one to the last minute. If you think about it, the band is with you for a significant chunk of your day; they’re also the ones to lead you into that all-important first dance. Class acts like Bird & Boy, Big Horn Productions, Baker Boys Band and Summer Club Band will keep you and your guests dancing all night long.
Best Wedding Stylists & Hire in Perth
Stylists bring the whole thing together, coordinating the work of all the other vendors and celebrants into one joyous, momentous, stunning occasion. My own work would not be half as impressive without the talents and contributions of stylists and venues like White Events, Heart Strings Hire & Style, Confetti & Co, Barefoot & Boho, Pretty Willow Prop Hire, Hire Society, Tiffany Keal Creative and the lovely Maisey Collections. If you want to give your wedding a distinct, unified (and undeniably beautiful) style, these are the people you need to call first!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little journey through some of Perth’s best wedding vendors. Not only are they all incredibly talented professionals in their own right, they are also people I adore working with, and hope to continue collaborating alongside for many weddings to come.
